In the months from December to April is the high season when most people visit Jaco Beach. The waves are usually light, and though there are the occasional rip tides, generally the beaches are safe for swimmers. Most surfers will enjoy the beach here, and the most hardcore surfers will head out to Playa Hermosa which is a few miles south of Jaco Beach. As a result of all the tourists who visit the area, many tourist conveniences like banks, courier services, and a multitude of seafood restaurants are available. Jaco Beach also has thriving nightlife, and you’re sure to enjoy dancing in the bars by the beach.
There are plenty of hotels to choose from in Jaco, ranging from high-end luxury hotels like the Baha Encatada Luxury Beach Resort or the La Paloma Blanca Deluxe Beach Condos, to the more affordable budget hotels like the Hotel Balcon del Mar for the budget-conscious traveler. Mid-range hotels like the Apart-Hotel Vista Pacifico or the Best Western Jaco Beach Resort often offer all-inclusive packages, though it’s recommended that you opt-out of these packages so you can freely experience the local cuisine in the many restaurants and bars along the beach.
